Choosing The Best Badminton Set

77

In looking for the best badminton set, there are a few things you want to make sure you think about before the purchase.? While there are several issues that you have to consider, the most important one is what you are going to use the badminton set for and how much money you want to spend on the set.? However, before we look at why you are purchasing the badminton set and rackets, lets look at some of the other key factors which will influence your decision:

?1. The sturdyness of the badminton net and poles

My suggestion here is to get the most sturdy set for badminton possible, no matter how often you are going to play the game or how rough you are going to be with it.? Very simply, you will generally get what you pay for, and if you end up with cheap PVC poles you may run into difficulties that you never expected.? For example, many people complain that cheaper sets are not easy to set up becuase the poles are not sturdy enough for the net.? Most of these people end up spending much more time than is wanted ducktaping and/or tying the poles to something more sturdy--which is definatly not worth saving $20 or $30 if you plan on using the set more than just one time.

The best badminton sets will come with very sturdy poles and nets, usually made out of aluminum, and are actually fairly lightweight.? Buying a set with aluminum poles saves both time and money in the long run in terms of repairs.

2. Ease of use and/or set up of the badminton set

Nothing is worse than spending the time you were planning on playing a sport on setting up and getting ready to play.? This is another reason why you want to purchase a quality set for badminton.? The set that I play with takes literally 5 minutes to set up and to take down.? In addition it is very easy to store, and is fairly lightweight.?

3. Quality of the badminton rackets and shuttlecocks (i.e. birdies)

This is one area that many beginning badminton players don't think about much, and may be one area that you can not worry about as much in buying the badminton set.? Most sets that are reasonably priced will come with cheap/cheaper rackets and shuttlecocks (yes, I always thought they were called birdies as well).? However, I don't look at this as that big of an issue being that you can use the sets rackets to learn with, and easily and fairly cheaply upgrade at your local sporting goods store.? Then, you end up with a good racket for you, and a cheap one that you can let others play with and not have to worry about :)

SUMMARY

Taking all of these points into consideration, unless you really aren't going to use the badminton set very often, then I would strongly suggest you purchase a good quality set.? Specifically the one I would recommend is the Park & Sun BM-PS/ALUM Badminton Pro Set.? This set is great for just about anyone--it is sturdy, made with quality aluminum poles and high quality net, and it is super easy to set up and take down.? And, the best part of all is that it is less than $100 when you buy it from Amazon.com!
