Badminton Set - The Essentials

Badminton is one of the most popular sports in the world and its beauty is that it can be played both outdoors as well as indoors. Badminton as such is not a game where professional training is a must to enjoy the game and it is very often a favorite picnic game. But, the sport does have its professional circuit and from an amateur to a professional, all require a good badminton set.

The main items of a badminton set are the rackets and shuttlecocks with the strings following closely behind. You need not go in for the most expensive set with the hi-fi rackets if you are a beginner. More than the expense of the rackets, it is the type of the racket which is more important as it should suit your style of the game. Rackets are available in many different weights and a good set will usually include two-three rackets of varying weights.

Shuttlecocks are the next in line of importance. Previously shuttlecocks used to be made of feather and then plastic ones came along. But, the feathered shuttlecocks are still preferred by the majority of players with the plastic ones relegated to children or casual players. Professionals and tournament players prefer using feather shuttlecocks.

The racket strings tend to get frayed or cut if the racket is constantly being used and strings are always included in a proper badminton set. Both thick and thin strings are provided. The thick strings are preferred by those who want durability in their rackets and the thinner ones are used by those who want more speed and power.
