Badminton Training ? An Easy Way to Get an Advantage

66

Do you have your own Badminton training program?

Are you a keen Badminton player, that plays at least once a week and is constantly trying to improve?

If you don?t have one, you are not alone. Many very good players don?t do any type of training or exercise to improve the way they play and simply rely on playing the game to improve their skills.

But this is big mistake. Why do all the top players train using other types of exercise. Top Badminton players are supreme athletes and could play for hours without their technique suffering.

But could any of them compete against the world?s best long distance runners or lift the sort of weights that Olympic weight lifters do. I don?t think so.

This is because their Badminton training is specific to their sport. They will have a certain level of ability in each of these areas, for example nobody could deny that being a good runner will help to improve the cardiovascular ability of every keen sportsperson. Or that the strength you?ll gain from regular weight training won?t make you a stronger and more powerful player.

It?s just that these are only part of the picture.

A good Badminton training program should include some of these things but also a number of more specific techniques and actions as used by Badminton players.

For example the wrists play a huge part in a typical game of Badminton, which relies on strong and supple forearm muscles to generate the power and control needed when hitting the shuttlecock.

Strong core muscles are essential because of all the twisting and bending associated with the game as are very flexible and strong leg muscles. There is absolutely no benefit to having powerful thigh muscles that aren?t flexible enough to stretch for a drop shot over the net for example.
